The Arkansas Valley Resource Center (AVRC) provides free comprehensive, accessible, and trauma-informed services for victims of crime in Southeastern Colorado. We can meet victims at our La Junta or Ordway offices, through our 24/7 hotline or email. Advocates can provide language and literacy interpretation and strive to accommodate our client’s accessibility needs. One of our goals is to minimize barriers for victims needing help.
Are there any requirements for obtaining these services?
AVRC has only one guideline for access to services, that individuals or families seeking AVRC services are victims of crime, or have been victims of crime in the past. There are no requirements or restrictions regarding economic or immigration status, gender or sexual orientation, age, race, or religion. Simply put, when we say AVRC services are available to all victims of crime in Southeast Colorado, we mean it.
As a community-based organization, AVRC is available to provide these services with or without the involvement of the criminal justice system or law enforcement. Our Advocates recognize that victims have a right to choices they feel are best for themselves and their families. Recovery and safety don’t always look the same from one person to the next. Involving Law Enforcement isn’t always an option for people experiencing abuse. Whatever the circumstance, AVRC Advocates will always endeavor to help victims of crime to the best of our ability.
