Arkansas Valley Resource Center is seeking an On-scene Victim Advocate to join our team.
Position: On-scene Victim Advocate
Reports to: Executive Director and Lead Law Enforcement Advocate
Qualifications: BA in human services or equivalent experience. Specific knowledge or experience in working with crime victims on the scene of the crime. Bilingual abilities preferred, but not required.
The Law Enforcement Victim Advocate’s responsibilities will be to:
-Be trained and gain knowledge in specific law enforcement advocacy techniques and responses and interpret or provide an interpreter for monolingual clients.
-Promotes accessible, culturally responsive, trauma informed and maintain equity, diversity, inclusion and belonging.
-Respond to calls from 7 law enforcement agencies on-scene to advocate for crime victims.
-To provide criminal justice advocacy for crime victims.
-Transports victims to safety and in the case of children utilize child restraint seats.
-Refers clients that need support from the DA’s office to the Victim Witness Coordinator from the DA’s office.
-Refrains from any actions that would normally be a Law Enforcement Officer’s responsibility or a District Attorneys responsibility.
-Assists crime victims in knowledge of Victim’s Rights Amendment.
-Informs clients about Victim’s Compensation program.
-Informs and educates victims regarding protection orders.
-Makes appropriate community referrals for secondary and primary victims.
-Refers victims to AVRC crisis team.
-Provides on-scene support of victims in a reasonable response time when the scene is secured by law enforcement.
-Maintains contact with law enforcement personnel by phone or in-person to assist with follow-up calls to victims in need.
-Completes lethality assessments for non-Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault victims as requested by the court system.
-Compile statistical information for monthly, quarterly and annual reports.
-Assist with maintaining grant files.
-Assists the Crisis Manager in creating blog and information posts on AVRC’s website and social media accounts.
-Participate in community outreach activities.
-Assists the Executive Director in the day to day operations of the Arkansas Valley Resource Center.
-Assists with and attends any AVRC fundraiser.
-To be a goodwill ambassador for the AVRC.
- Job hours are Mon.-Fri. 9a to 4:30p, with 2 weeks on-call time every month.
- Requires valid driver’s license, a working vehicle, and current insurance for the vehicle.
- Annual Salary $32,000, with benefits.
